Cristian Vargas, 31, started DJing seven years ago and has fast become one of the shining stars of the underground house scene in London. Born in Santiago, Chile and raised in Croydon, Cristian has developed a style best described as; chunky, sexy, house, with a bit of a electronic twist, that has seen him appear at ‘top’ underground parties and more well-known clubs and bars, in the UK and abroad. With his ability to read a crowd, Cristian can take everyone on a journey they won’t forget! His sets at leading underground house nights in London, the creation of Sythetec Sunday and Sizzle (see below) and his regular appearances on www.pulseradio.net, the dance music internet radio station, have received high praise from industry peers and dancefloor devotees alike. Cristian has played along side many of the world greatest DJ’s and Producers, including: Richard Grey and Asad Rizvi(Reverberations), Nils Hess(Eukatech Records, Get Fucked), Dave Mothersole(Kiss FM), Tom Baker(MoS/Fabric), Jane Fitz(Peg), Dub Kult(Warp/Arcola), Big Hair (U-freq), Justin Harris (Freaks, MFF), BionicBumpBand (2020vision), Terry Francis(Fabric, Wiggle), ‘Phil’ Pure Science, Dan Berkson, Jay Tripwire, Bob de Rosa (Heart & Soul, Uhuru Beats) and Charles Webster(Miso Records, Peace Frog). Synthetec Sunday After years of positive feedback from happy clubbers, Cristian decided to develop his promoter skills further by launching his own night... or day to be more precise. Synthetec’s maison d’être (sic) was to provide a good after-hours club (6am-12pm) that offers quality deep house, when everything was closed and there was no where else to go for good funky tunes. It quickly established a reputation for its funky, friendly vibe and high standard of DJing, Sizzle Following the success of Synthetec, Cristian has now turned his attention to the other end of the day. In collaboration with Paul Soul, Sizzle, is a dedicated house / twisted house night that was held within the multi-room ‘Fuddle Duddle’ events. Sizzle’s debut was a resounding success and more events are planned for the near future. On the 10th July 2004 Sizzle produced their BEST party to date, this time it was an all-nighter on a boat travelling up and down the river Thames, with special guests Big Hair (U-Freq) and Jane Fitz(Peg), this party really rocked the boat, even when docked, the party carried on, people did not want to leave, with comments such as ‘you’ll have a hard job, to make the next Sizzle party as good as or better than this one’, Cristian and Paul can sit back feel proud of what they had done. ·U-Freqs Party: Dachkantine, Zurich ·Sizzle Boat Party 2003: River Thames, UK ·MTV Party @ Ministry of Sound: London ·Bread & Roses, Budweiser tent: Glastonbury Festival, UK ·Winter Music Conference: Chesterfield Hotel, Miami, USA ·Tech2House, Pula, Croatia ·Fuddle Duddle, Aux en Provance, France ·Whoop Whoop, New Years Eve 1999/2000, Costa Rica ·Sub Rosa: London ·Whoop Whoop: London ·Give a little Luv (Cancer research fund raiser) Cynthia’s Robot Disco, UK ·Peg (a regular DJ at this, perhaps London’s friendliest underground party) ·Family Party ·International Chaos DJ’s : Camden, London ·Mi Casa Su Casa ·Funky Beats For Music Freaks, Kennington, London ·Save the Rhino (Fundraiser for ‘Save the Rhino’): Herbal, London ·Lion’s Den (internet radio) ·Pure (Cancer research UK party) : Herbal, London ·Deepdown ·Information Party (Rhythm Factory): London ·Information Party Meets Fruity (Boat party): River Thames, UK ·Kult ·Peace Artiste (Stop The War Coalition fundraiser): Electrowerks, London ·Fuddle Duddle ·Bloc ·Teethout productions ·Live interview and DJ set with Radio Maestral (95.4FM), Croatia. ·Foot Therapy (World Wide FM): London |
